Slowing Down Animations in Editor

Lottie advertises that you can slow down animations in their built-in editor; “There’s just one problem: perhaps the colors are wrong, it’s playing too fast or its dimensions are too small.”

I wanted to slow down one of my SVG to Lottie animations that I have on my account - it animated great, but was just too fast. I don’t know if anyone else has noticed this, but the editor doesn’t actually let you slow down animations, only speed them up. You have the very limited choices of 1, 1.5, 2, and 2.5x playback speeds.

It’s a bit frustrating that this functionality is advertised by Lottie themselves, but their editor doesn’t actually provide. I have to manually slow down this animation in After Effects now which is way more time-consuming than if I could just do it in the editor.

Please let me know if there is a work around for this, or if I’m just not understanding the Editor properly. Thanks!

Not sure about the editor itself, but I only trust those things to After Effects to be absolutely certain of the speed that I need.

I agree, After Effects gives you way more control. In my case I was just looking to slow it down generally, wasn’t looking for a specific time. I’m very new to After Effects and was just excited to find out that there may be a much simpler way to just do it in LottieFiles itself.

Agreed. It would be nice to have more controls. Like the GIF convertor always adds a blank frame at the end of the animation so I can’t trust it
