Masks not rendering in Lottie

how can I access the Lottie plugin settings?

When you’re in the plugin and see your comps there is a gear next to each one. You’ll adjust the settings based on each composition, but not the plugin overall.

If none of the options suggested here worked for you, try applying the set matte effect to the layer you want to mask and then select your mask layer in the Take matte from layer option in the effect menu. Make sure the Collapse transformations switch is on to avoid weird glitches when rendering. Worked out for me.

The above Set Matte doesn’t work within the PlugIn as it’s considered an effect.

Hello everyone, I’m having the same issue and I finally fixed it! I hope you fix it too

When you do masking, make sure that you put the mask layer directly above the layer you want to mask as Lottie still behaves as the old versions of AE mask behaviour. You may ask “What if I want to mask more than 1 layer, 2, 3…?!” in this case you have to make a copies of your mask as many as the layers you want to be mask.

So, duplicate the mask layer for every single layer you want to be masked, Ex:
Lets say you have 3 Layers (Layer 1, Layer 2, Mask Layer) and you want the (Layer 1 & Layer 2) to be masked by the “Mask Layer” you have to make two copies of the “Mask Layer”, one for the “Layer 1” and the other one for “Layer 2”.

Hopefully that will be exported fine with no issues!

Making sure the mask is above the layer your masking is important. One other thing to note, if you are using a line with a stroke as an object, that will have to be converted or remade into a vector shape. Found out that masks do not seem to work on lines w/strokes like they do with a vector shape. Lottie does not seem to like lines, dots, dashes or anything else that isn’t an actual vector shape even though sometimes they work when not using a mask. Safer to have everything be a vector object.
