I’ve updated to the most recent version of AE (23.1) and tried to re download the plugin but no luck…

Error message → unsupported file type or extension

Did you try to install the lottie plugin via the Adobe Exchange ?

In the “Creative Cloud Marketplace” you can search for Lottie and you’ll see the compatible plugin.
