Cannot download files from sharing link

Our designers have Teams licenses for LottieFiles. When they share their LottieFiles animation by enabling the share link and allowing download by anyone with the link, users external to our organization cannot get to file download. They see the download button - clicking on it requires them to log in (with a free account) and request access to download.

How is this sharing link supposed to work? Our project teams often consist of devs and stakeholders from different orgs, and they need the ability to view and download assets.

Hi @Jennifer_Huang

Thank you for bringing this to our attention!

To clarify, when you enable the sharing link in LottieFiles, it does allow anyone with the link to view the animation. If “Guest View” is enabled, external users can access the file without needing to log in.

However, for downloading the file, users will still need to log in to download the file. This is currently in place to help us manage content usage and access more securely.

We understand how this might impact your workflow, especially when collaborating with teams and stakeholders from different organizations.

We’re actively reviewing this process to see how we can improve the experience and make sharing and downloading more seamless for teams like yours.

Let us know if you have any other questions or concerns. We’re happy to assist!

hi Haleeza,
Thanks for the reply. To clarify, does the user need to be logged in AND have a seat on our Team in order to download? Our devs have LottieFile accounts, but they don’t have a paid license on our Team.

No, the user does not need to have a paid license or be part of your Team to download.

As long as they are logged into their LottieFiles account, and the link had Download option enabled, they’ll be able to download the files.
