After Effect plugin does not allow me to save, "Save the animation to your workspace to unlock Lottie formats"

I am using After Effects 26.2.1

I can see the animation preview play in the Lottie extension window in After Effects, but all download options are grayed out with the message “Save the animation to your workspace to unlock Lottie formats” appearing on hover over. I have saved the animation to my workspace, and wouldn’t you know it, I used up all 5 free uploads to try to get this to work.

Can I only render from After Effects if I am paying for Lottie? I thought the plugin was free? I do not understand what I am doing wrong.

Please help. :frowning:

Hi @Kelcy,

Thanks for reaching out, and totally understand the frustration. The plugin itself is free, but free accounts include a limit of 5 workspace uploads. Once that’s reached, the Lottie export options lock until you’re on a paid plan — that’s what you’re hitting here.

If you’d like help finding the right plan for your needs, feel free to reach out to support@lottiefiles.com and the team will be happy to help.
